The evenings of recollection, with the purpose of helping us better live our faith in the midst of our work and family responsibilities, are led by Fr Anthony Bernal in St Mary's Star of the Sea on the second Tuesday of the month. God and Beer: Creative Catholicism with Fr James Grant

At a time when many Catholics feel discouraged by declining Mass attendance, confusion within the culture, and the challenges facing family and parish life, Fr James Grant argues that the Church must recover a spirit of confidence, creativity, and mission. Drawing on his experience as a priest, author, chaplain, and missionary, Fr James will speak about what he calls “Creative Catholicism” — a practical and hopeful vision for renewing Catholic life in Australia. Fr James Grant is a Catholic priest of the Ordinariate in Australia, author, speaker, and founder of several Catholic initiatives including Chaplains Without Borders and Catholics in Business. Before becoming a Catholic priest, he served for many years as an Anglican priest in Australia and overseas before being received into the Catholic Church and ordained in 2012. Fr James has worked extensively in chaplaincy, youth outreach, parish renewal, and Catholic mission initiatives throughout Australia. He has served as chaplain to Melbourne Victory Football Club and hosts the “Creative Catholicism” podcast. This promises to be an evening of good conversation, fellowship, and faith. We hope you’ll join us! Dinner available for pre-purchase only (deadline July 9th) Drinks can be ordered on the night. Dinner is $35 and includes: Main (choose from): *Smoked Beef Brisket 12 hour slow roast; *Roast chicken; *Vegetarian Zucchini and Fetta Fritata; *Vegan Roasted Red Capsicum with Pumpkin and Char-Grilled Vegetables. Salads: Greek style garden salad, zesty coleslaw, tuscan pasta Italian-style roast potatoes, sourdough dinner roll, condiments, gravy.

Youth and young adult leaders are invited to the next Youth Leaders Training with special guest presenter Qwayne Guevara, from the National Centre for Evangelisation, who will explore accompaniment and synodality. What does it look like to belong in the Church when things feel messy, divided or unsure? Communion isn't about everyone agreeing. Even when it's hard, it's about staying connected. Accompaniment is how that happens: walking with people instead of fixing them, listening well and not letting anyone fall through the cracks. A Church that listens and walks together: that's what synodality is calling us into. This session is about what that means in real life and why faith isn't something we do alone, but something we live together.
